How do you deal with the prospect of a potential life lived alone?

I don't know the future and am not pretending it's my fate, I certainly hope not.
But the idea stays in the back of my mind, I'm 36 and never had a relationship. There were years when I didn't look and just focused on myself, others where I put myself out there and was active on online dating.
I have more free time for sports and that's cool, but when I go to sleep in the evening it tends to nag me a lot. I am happy in my life, but there is a feeling of missing out.
So, I wanted to know if there are other folks in the same situation on here and how they make peace with it. The input would be appreciated.
