Changelings

My wife Mary and I had the pleasure of raising our son in the house I was raised in. The house itself had a large, overgrown, Fairy Fort situated at the end of our back garden. Mary always hated it, it scared her and she hated Billy going near it.
One morning when I was out attending to the garden Billy wandered off and disappeared into the fort. Before I even had time to get to my feet a loud piercing scream sounded from its direction. Panicked, I ran and when I got to the fort Billy was just sitting there smiling at me.
I picked him up and brought him inside the house where his mother was waiting to comfort him but as she approached him she went cold and backed away.
"That's not my son, " she screamed as she ran to the back screaming for Billy.
Something did seem different about Billy. His once blue eyes had darkened to an obsidian black. A piercing screeching sound came out of his mouth when he tried to talk as if he had forgotten how to speak.
Mary spent the next few days in bed pining for her son. I tried my best trying to reassure her that Billy was hers and whatever is up with him will pass.
As the weeks passed Mary was making more effort with Billy. She talked about bringing him to a doctor to try to find out if there was anything wrong with him. Everything seemed to be getting back to normal when I heard a scream from upstairs. I ran up to find my wife cowering in the corner.
"When I walked in to check on him he was crawling across the ceiling, " she quivered as the words struggled to leave her mouth.
I was worried about Mary's mental health. But after that night she appeared to change for the better. Mary was upstairs given Billy a bath as I peeled carrots in the kitchen when all of a sudden I heard a noise in the back garden. I looked out to find a group of red, glowing, angry eyes peering back at me from the darkness of the Fairy Fort and they appeared to be moving towards the house.
A sudden dread washed over me so I decided to go check on my wife. I ran upstairs and kicked in the bathroom door.
"He's not our son, " she cried out as she held Billy's head under the water.
I grabbed her and flung her across the room as I embraced our poor, terrified son.
My eyes turned obsidian black as I left out a gut-wrenching screech. I walked to the window and left out another screech as my brothers and sisters retreated back to the Fairy Fort.
"My mother didn't want me either, but she soon learned to love me. The same way you will learn to love our son," I said as I smiled menacingly at my wife.
