(34 / F-MF / South Carolina)I have been working on my family tree (seriously awesome stuff found) but I found this picture among some old pictures that we inherited when my gpa passed away. I found so much info on the individual in the picture, and I thought you all might enjoy it his story... (story to be posted after picture)
The man in the picture is my 3rd Great Grandpa, Joseph Adams.
A short look at his life (before I get into his military history):
Joseph Adams was born in 1843 in Pleasants, West Virginia. He married Sarah Frances Williamson on February 2, 1868, in Tyler, West Virginia. They had 11 children in 24 years. He died on January 28, 1923, in his hometown at the age of 80, and was buried in St Marys, West Virginia. (the man had a good lifer from all accounts)

Starting with his enlistment:
Joseph Adams, a private from West Virginia, fought for the Union during the Civil War. Enlisted in Company C, 7th Regiment, Infantry Volunteers, Sistersville VA

The 7th Regiment became apart of the Army of the Potomac (1862) under General McClellan. The Army was assigned to General Grant in 1863.
He was in the following battles:
Antietam, MD. 1862
Battle of the Wilderness Va May 1864
Siege Of Petersburg VA Sept 1864
Appomattox VA April 1865
He was wounded twice and spent about six months in Army Hospitals.
His most serious wound was during the siege of Petersburg, on Sept 11th 1864, due to a minie ball passing through the calf of his leg.
He was in the following battles:

@xlace1975x: my other gpa served in the Army, he is 82 and still alive... but I don't have a picture of him lol
