Cover up tattoos at work? (by james85)

Your thoughts please on the businesswoman sacked for refusing to cover up an ankle tattoo after bosses brought in new rules forcing employeees to conceal any ink work. She argues the only way to cover it up would be with a sock which would look stupid while the firm says its no-tattoos-on-show policy is designed to improve the company’s image.

Well she's stupid if she thinks that the only way to cover it. She can go find a new job or follow the rules.

That's why I get tats where you can cover them if need be...there are ways she can hide her tat she just needs to by shoes that will cover it...rules are rules, follow them or find a new job

I'm sure its in the employees guidelines before she was hired and she probably signed something that stated she must hide all ink. Is it that hard to hide a ankle tattoo?

He said it was a new policy but she didn't want to follow it

Maybe she should start her own company and she can make the rules. I remember I was working for a company that changed the rules to no facial hair, no face tats, and no visible piercings other than your ears. Oh and guys couldn't have long hair

I think its ridiculous that we can wear jewelry as a decoration but not a tattoo. Employers also discriminate when it comes to what type of jewelry you wear. I had a tiny butterfly nose ring years ago and was told it was against rules because of safety reasons...yet my supervisor wore big gaudy rings on all her fingers...

@WalkSoftly: I didn't know about the concealer. I don't have to use it but it's a good idea

I think it's stupid to ask someone to cover up a tattoo.. I may not like your face but I can't make you cover that up
