Why don't guys want to drink or party with their SO like they do with their guy friends?

This might sound silly what I am about to write. As it is not such a big of a deal, but sometimes it bugs me. Me(31f) and my bf(38m) have been together for almost a year and a half now. Everything between us is great. He is perfect in every way and we love each other alot. The only problem is when we go out, let's say once a month or every three weeks. We go out to have some drinks and to party lets say. We always have a great time, but I want it to last longer, let's say till 2 am. He usually wants to go home at midnight or even earlier. But when he goes out drinking with his guy friends or coworkers he doesn't have a problem being out till 2 am. When I asked him why is that, he tells me that drinking with his buddies is different than with me. It's a different relationship. But he tells me he values our time alot and has fun with me. I just don't get it why he can't stay out with me longer and get drunk like he stays with his friends? I love spending time with him and I cherish the time when we go out for drinks and could be out with him even till 3am with no problem. I'd just like that he would feel the same. Can you give me a male perspective on this?
