@mousegrrl: I have no problem with snakes per se, but what happened after my last run in with one bout caused me to keel over dead. I'm literally on the edge of town. My property line is the city limits. Was out mowing back in June and saw about a three footer moving into some brush on the edge of the yard. I grabbed his tail to pull him out for a look but he slipped loose. Bout an hour later I had finished lunch and went back out when I noticed my neighbors standing in a circle in the road. Went out there and they'd killed that snake. It was a cottonmouth and if I hadn't lost my grip I'd have probably gotten biten. God is good.
